Today in middle school class, we did Gustav Klimt's the tree of life. There were some leftover gold. I did this. I decided not to trace, one stroke at a time.

There were some colors

I still have those blue colors. I pour to board, press another board on top of it. Then I get these two. I have no idea how I can manipulate. They have their own characters, hard to follow.

Acrylic orchid

Long time no orchid painting. Now I try with acrylic. No easy. The color does not run. The paints are very sticky.

Just some strokes

I have some paper still waiting to be touched, but I do not have a clue what to do. So I just put some strokes onto it. No reason. Its existence does not require a reason.

yellow shapes as flowers

This piece of paper has some yellow spot, I looked at them and made up some so called flowers accordingly.

Night woods and bamboo

This is another try. Through this I found that my bamboo is so monoform, I mean lacking variation.

Poppy and tulip

I tried poppy and tulip. I still can not paint flowers right. sigh.

I learned that I should use color more purposely

What do I learn? I learned that I should use color more purposely. There fore, the painting will have more of learning aspect. And the leftover color could come out a more meaningful/harmonious painting. Anyway, I do not lose anything.

Silver trees

Now I realize that I have way too many recycle paper. one teacher again 100 students. No matter how careful they are, there inevitably will be mistakes. I figure that I need to paint real quick to catch up with the supply.

These two are done by silver paint in 2 and 4 minutes respectively.

Using up leftover paints and recycle paper

Winter tree
A certain kind of flower

Let me take a picture as souvenir before I transform them into something else.

Dot or not to dot, this is a question

I remember in yesterday's art class, I give students paper. Some were not happy because the paper were not clean, with some crayon or pastel trace. I changed then all went well.

What should I do with those paper?

Yesterday's tree of life did not turn out well for the lower graders. I realize that drawing/coloring or anything using their hands and patience is a big deal. So I wanted to improve it.

I took the tinny tiny bit dirty paper, scribble scrabble all over with green, dark green, lemon green (all available at that moment) and some blue and purple. Then I paint tempera on top of it.

At the end, I added a few dots. Because it was inspired by the tree of life of Gustav Klimt. It got to be decorative. So I added the dots.

Finally, Dot or not dot, this is a question.

云海雪山 Snow mountain in clouds

I looked at the background. I tried mountain on it.
Not enough contrast, I added white as clouds. Then some white dots here and there. The chapped rough background looked good with snow. why not 云海雪山 Snow mountain in clouds

生命之树 The tree of life

We learn the painting of Gustav Klimt, the tree of life.

Middle school did very well. Students can understand and see the seemingly messy, interwoven branches. They did not finish because they spent time reading and searching online.

1st graders did not give me a satisfying result. The branches are too much for them to see.

So I practiced it again.

Building a layer of texture

I browse through web the paintings, and see many (most) have background. Light or dark, it creates an atmosphere. So, here are mines:

When I can not settle with a blue board, ... night trees

I had this blue board, with some a bit lighter and darker stripes. It always triggered me to think of night trees. So I did it.

This painting asks more attention, I know. I will work on it.
Just let it rest for now, or let me rest for now.

Then I gave a bit more work.

Then yet some more bit of work.
I am not sure if this is the place I will stop though.

Inspired by the shop window

Yesterday I was the tourist in Los Alto, took a few picture of the shop window. Here is a design inspired the picture.

The problem was that the red is almost running out. I could not control well. Next time, I will put it into hair dye bottle, which worked way better than its original bulky bottle.

Draw iris from photo

The last day of kidless spring break. I went to Allied Guild of Artists in Menlo Park. I took pictures of the blossom flowers and drew this:

The blue and white

With the background of blues, I thought white would be good. But how can I make white opacque? Hair dye bottle.

The blues

Before the blues go bad, I use them.

I did some background and took pictures.

I had some fun adjusting the the light, contrast, it came out interesting the least.

Haunted midnight doodle

I got one youtube friend telling me that he listened to my This is only for sleeping, his brother thought it haunted.

This comment provoked me to do a haunted midnight doodle.

Layers of flower petals

Very random. As I flipped through magazine and browsed internet. I found some flower petals overlaying one layer after another.

I did this one to try to see the lays. I pretty much do not see anything 3D. oh well.

Creating chaos of blues

I woke up with the urge to paint.
The only colors I wanted to finish were the blues.
I looked up images with: blue, pretty blue, blue waterfall
I did one background only to find out that I was totally dried up the white, even with the funny sound.

It built a base of a waterfall painting, I thought.

A few minutes later, I did this one. Not sure if this is any improving, I had a joy ride and that is all.

I was to clean the brush and paint. Too much left over. The sink will not like it.

Use them up.
There came the chaos.

Can be stormy ocean, haunted night, troubled water, etc...
Out of this, I painted our calla lily from our backyard.

Sky, I hope I can interpret something other than

The paints got dried in my backyard. I used drop off lemons as weight. Such a classic color contract!
